How to do Chin Ups The Chin up is one of the ultimate body weight exercises and a fantastic test of upper body strength. This is one of the most basic exercises yet underutilized due to it's difficulty for beginners. So many gym-goers pass on the chin up for the much more popular lat pulldown machine. If building strength is your goal than you need to be doing chin ups.

Exercise Steps
Step 1 Grab a bar with your palms facing you about shoulder width
Step 2 Pull yourself up where your chin is above the bar
Step 3 Slowly return to the bottom position and repeat
Tips Maintain core tension throughout the duration of the exercise. Look slightly up and grip the bar tightly.
