Q: What motivated you to get into the personal training business?
A: When my Professional Dancing Career ended with a serious ankle injury, I was forced to make a decision. I have been lucky to always be active and in shape, but overcoming physical limitations was one of the biggest challenges of my life. It was mind over matter and after 2 years of physical therapy I began to feel better than I ever could have imagined. I wanted to learn as much as I could and apply it to disciplines that would allow others to feel as well as I do. We all have limitations and for me the objective was to find what worked best to keep me pain free & master each phase. I believe in the "I CAN" method.
Q: What is your philosophy on training?
A: To assist & help clients of all ages build endurance & improve overall health. Using a combination of different fitness regimens & the graceful movements of dance creates an environment that makes exercise challenging, fun &, successful.
Q: How do you keep yourself motivated to eat right and train hard consistently?
A: Each day brings a new challenge. I have learned to listen to my body and not over do it! It is all about moderation and feeling my best. I like challenging myself, so being creative with a variety of moves & music is a constant inspiration & shows me new ways to help clients achieve their goals. Part of good training is knowing how to relax and I value my time to rest and rejuvenate.
Q: What is one of your favorite methods to train with and why?
A: Kettlebells without a doubt! They are AMAZING! It is a discipline that uses every muscle fiber in your body. Kettlebells work strength, endurance, cardiovascular, coordination, & balance. Core training, in my opinion, was redefined when Kettlebells entered the picture! Combined with free weights, stability equipment, & your own bodyweight you have no choice but to be a lean overall power machine.
Q: What is your personal goal for yourself when it comes to your fitness?
A: I have one life to live and I want to enjoy it! I feel that with moderation and body awareness I can enjoy everything that life has to offer to the fullest. It is important for me to educate myself, reap the benefits of good nutrition, physical fitness & a strong self image, so that I can feel my best with each passing day.
Q: What kind of advice would you give someone who wants to make a career in fitness?
A: Get the best education from the most knowledgeable sources, continue studying to improve your skills, & have a positive outlook. This will transmit your dedication to your clients and give them the desire to copy your success. I would say to new trainers the same thing I say to prospective clients- focus on your goals. Improve your body. Transform your life.
